There’s plenty to do in our little coastal village that’s hemmed by fynbos-infused nature reserves and a wide variety of walking, hiking and cycling trails.

Surfing
A point and beach break sit close together around Seal Point, with different options for surfers depending on conditions and experience. The best waves usually arrive from May to mid-September, with winter swells and offshore winds producing the best conditions.
Walking Trails
Cape St Francis is surrounded by four nature areas, where walking trails wind through fynbos, coastal thicket, dunes and rocky shores. Together, they form an important network of protected natural areas around the village.
Hiking
It’s a hiker's delight in this part of the world. Trails like Shark Point and Two Bays take you beyond the village into fynbos, coastal vegetation and rocky shoreline. Look out for small wildlife and seabirds along the way.
Birdwatching
A combination of rocky shores, fynbos, coastal bush and wetlands makes this area excellent for birdwatching. Common species include African black oystercatchers, Cape cormorants, terns, and ospreys.
Cycling
Numerous cycling routes connect Cape St Francis with St Francis Bay and the surrounding nature areas, ranging from village roads and beach rides to purpose-built singletrack. There are options for casual riders and more experienced mountain bikers, with several local routes also suitable for Class 1 e-bikes.
Kite Surfing
When the wind picks up, Cape St Francis becomes a popular spot for kite surfing. Best suited to riders with the appropriate experience and skills.
Fishing
From kids scooping up little fish in rock pools to serious surf fishing, there’s something for everyone. You can book deep-sea charters from Port St Francis, with trips suitable for both families and big-game anglers.
Whale Watching
Whale watching is best from August to November, when southern right and humpback whales can be spotted. Look for them from coastal viewpoints on the walking trails, or head out on a boat-based whale-watching trip.

Lighthouse Tours
The historic Seal Point Lighthouse is one of Cape St Francis's best-known landmarks. Tours allow visitors to climb the 154 steps to the lantern room, 28 metres above the ground, for sweeping views over the surrounding coast.

Port St Francis
A short trip from Cape St Francis, Port St Francis is a working harbour and an important base for the local chokka fishing industry. Watch the boats dock and pop into one of the many restaurants for a bite to eat.
